Simon Goddard, Pastor
Lode is a beautiful fenland village midway between Cambridge and Newmarket, and is located next to Anglesey Abbey (National Trust).
There has been a baptist chapel in the village since 1810, when this plot of land near the High Street was puchased.
200 years on, the chapel continues to be a place of prayer and service.
Do browse this website for more information about the way the Chapel provides space for both 'sacred' and 'community' uses.
We are particularly keen for the building and its peaceful surroundings to be a resource for the wider church - do find out more about our prayer room and quiet days, as well as exploring whether we might be an appopriate venue for your next church or leadership away day.

LODE200 Weekend
Although we’ve changed our name and have moved to Bottisham Primary School for our morning services, we’re still very committed to the Lode community. As part of our bicentenary celebrations we’re holding a number of events in the village on Saturday 11th April and Sunday 12th April. Residents of Lode and the surrounding villages are invited to join us for any or all of the following:
Family Game of Rounders on Lode Recreation Ground – on Saturday from 2.00pm until 4.30pm
All ages are welcome to come and join us for a community game of rounders. There will be refreshments available in between innings as well as a cake sale and a fair trade stall.
The Exhibition – on display Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon
Come and find out about the history of Lode Chapel and some of the people who have gone there over the years. We’re also putting together a time capsule with information about current residents in Lode which we’ll be burying in the graveyard later this year. Come in and tell us about you and your family and we’ll put your details in the capsule.
Barbeque followed by BEATLES Tribute band – at the Chapel from 5.30pm
Come and enjoy some barbequed sausages and burgers and then stick around to enjoy some quality music from a local Beatles tribute band (likely to start around 7.00pm). During the barbeque there will be activities for children in one of the side rooms, and time to look at the exhibition.
The Chapel Café and Car Wash – on Sunday from 2pm until 6pm, plus Youth Café from 8pm
Come and join us for a cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake. While you wait you can have a look at the exhibition and have your car washed if you want. Again there will be some activities for the younger children in a side room. The Café will then reopen at 8pm with a distinctly ‘youth’ feel (for 12-17 year olds) – there’ll be loud music, a snooker table, table tennis, table football, a Wii and more.
Community Action – Monday afternoon
Our youth group, TGI Fridays, have taken a key role in putting together Saturday’s activities, but the weekend doesn’t end there for them. They are making themselves available to undertake helpful tasks throughout Lode on Monday afternoon. This could be doing a bit of gardening or housework for an elderly resident of the village or some other ‘act of kindness’ that might benefit the wider community. If you have any ideas of people who might benefit from such help, please let me know (contact details below).
All of the events will be free, but we will be inviting donations towards charitable causes (our young people have already raised more than £200 for Haiti). We look forward to seeing you at some point over the weekend.
